Reprieves are by definition short-term. With the greatest of respect to individual lobbying skills, the fundamental issue of the long-term management of NTS still need to be addressed. Responding to local pressure is no substitute for a well-considered strategy on funding, marketing and conservation. The present Board & Council appear not to exhibit the necessary skills. We hope these short term fixes will not deflect support from our purpose – an open discussion of the financial facts leading to a complete review of NTS objectives and the means necessary to achieve them.
