St Monans Playgroup
Who are we?
St Monans Playgroup, which has been running for 35 years, is a registered charity. It is managed by a voluntary committee consisting of parents and carers involved with the group. Parents and carers pay a fee and snack money for each session unless their child is eligible for a free pre-school place in which case Fife Council pays (i.e. children over 3 years old). The Committee also applies for grants, ask for donations and fundraise.
Playgroup can have 24 children per session with no more than eight under three years of age. Its main aim is to provide children with a stable, friendly and trusting environment in which they can learn and develop through play. It follows the Curriculum Framework for children 3 - 5 as set by the Scottish Executive and local guidelines.
Playgroup is registered with the Care Commission and has regular inspections to ensure necessary standards are being met and kept. It is in partnership with Fife Council for Nursery starters (EQUATE) to provide funded places for 3 years olds. It is also a member of SPPA.
There are two qualified Play leaders and parents do duty on a rota basis.
