Scottish Water Efficiency call for the East Neuk
Scottish Water is asking people in the East Neuk of Fife to use water efficiently and help them maintain normal supplies.
“We are calling on all customers – residents and visitors – in the Anstruther, Pittenweem, Crail, Elie, St Monans and Lundin Links & Lower Largo area to help protect water supplies and use water more efficiently by:
- taking shorter showers
- turning the tap off when brushing teeth
- using washing machines and dishwashers only when fully loaded
- and using a watering can instead of a garden hose.
Scottish Water is experiencing exceptionally high demand for water in these areas during the warm weather.
Demand for water has increased by about 40%, or one million litres per day, in the East Neuk compared with normal water usage levels at this time of year.
Scottish Water is working hard to maintain normal water supplies and we are tankering water in to the local network in these areas, but we are asking all of our customers there to help us by being more water efficient. If residents and visitors or holidaymakers can take some small, simple steps to reduce their water use, they can make big contribution towards our efforts to maintain normal supplies for everyone”.
Scottish Water posts facts, tips and activities on social media to raise awareness about why we all need to save water and more information on saving water is available at www.scottishwater.co.uk/savewater
