New flight paths are being proposed in the<\/strong> biggest shake-up of Scotland’s airspace since the 1950s.<\/strong><\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A public consultation has opened into the plans, which are designed to reduce noise and cut emissions during take offs and landings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Airspace Change Organising Group says modern aircraft are still using “outdated routes” from 70 years ago – often flying further and longer than needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Scottish Airspace Modernisation consultation<\/strong> is jointly co-ordinated between Edinburgh Airport, Glasgow Airport and air traffic service NATS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Edinburgh Airport, along with colleagues at ARUP and NATS, will be hosting an event in the\u00a0Earlsferry Town Hall on the 18th<\/sup>\u00a0November from 14:00 – 20:00<\/strong>\u00a0as part of Scotland\u2019s Airspace Change consultation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The majority of the detail for the consultation is contained within the consultation documents. These are large documents but there is also an abridged summary version.

The in-person event is being provided as an extra layer of consultation to ensure that if there are any areas that people are unsure of, they can come along and ask the experts for more clarity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
