Thumbs up for the launch of the Festival \u2013 committee members with the 2018 poster on the east pier of St Monans Harbour<\/p><\/div>\n

The St Monans Community Arts Festival will take place on Saturday 8th<\/sup>\u00a0and Sunday 9th<\/sup>\u00a0September, with seventeen venues and various outdoor locations in the village hosting a wide range of events and art exhibitions.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
This year\u2019s poster and programme feature a painting of the St Monans seafront and harbour created several years ago by local primary school pupils, which now hangs in the Church Hall. For the launch, committee members gathered on the east pier of the harbour, holding up the poster, with the seafront it depicts in the background.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
Festival chairperson Ruth Craib said: \u201cWe feel that the children\u2019s painting emphasises the community spirit of our arts festival, which we are delighted to note gets bigger and better each year. This year we have eighteen art, craft, and music workshops and other events over the two days. These include opportunities to try your hand at glass painting and pottery, learning how to juggle with a diabolo, and the art of blowing giant bubbles. There are two music concerts, a world music workshop, and several musical performances that will take place in various locations around the village. There is something for everyone, and all events are free.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
Festival secretary Helen Marshall added: \u201cWe are really pleased to be launching our tenth festival with such a full programme. We have a festival caf\u00e9 in the church hall, which is also the venue for our art and photographic exhibitions, as well as stalls offering a diverse range of crafts. The Town Hall is the venue for many of the workshops and the Saturday evening music night with the Crosswater Band and other local performers. Last but not least, there are fifteen artists mounting exhibitions of their work in thirteen open studios. Everyone is welcome, and we hope that people from other communities in Fife and beyond will come and join us over the weekend and enjoy the festival with us.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n

The festival programme is available on the village website with links to more information and event listings on Facebook. The photographic exhibition will feature the winners and runners up in a competition for photographs of St Monans and the surrounding area.
