Free ipads for seniors scheme
Hourglass Scotland has a small supply of free ipads as part of a government scheme that it can give to older people living in Fife to help reduce digital exclusion. End users must :-
- live in Fife
- be digitally excluded i.e. do not currently have or use any devices which connect to the internet
- be aged over 60 and
- be on a low income
As part of the scheme the end user also gets free mobile data (mi-fi) for 2 years via Vodaphone, so they don’t need to have broadband. They will also receive support from one of the Hourglass Digital Champion volunteers.
The scheme is focused on people that have not used the internet before and that might normally be put off by anything related to computers or the internet. Hourglass Scotland aims to be able to help with building up that confidence while at the same time still warning of the potential dangers.
If you know of anyone (friends, neighbours or family) who fit into these categories and who might be interested in receiving one, please contact brianrapley@wearehourglass.org
