St Monans & Abercrombie Community Council vacancies
There are now TWO vacant places on St Monans & Abercrombie Community Council.
These vacancies have been advertised via the minutes from last month’s Community Council meeting in March, but many people may not have realised that these two vacancies are open to all permanent residents of both St Monans & Abercrombie over the age of 16.
These two vacancies are an opportunity for two more people to join our other eight Community Council members as part of a team of people who care about our two communities and who want to work to make St Monans and Abercrombie even better places to live for everyone of all ages.
Community Councils are run by volunteers and play a valuable roll in local democracy. We are involved in many areas of local life from planning applications, to organising local events like the annual Beach Clean, Burns Supper and much more. We also try where possible to help with local problems, especially with campaigns and petitions like one we raised in 2021 against Queen Margaret Street becoming a through-road for vehicular traffic to and from the new estate. We hold ten meetings a year where members of the public can come along to watch and listen. We often have special interest speakers who are invited to speak too.
Every 4 years Fife Council hold Community Council Elections where all residents can vote for up to 10 Community ‘Councillors’ or members. As there will not be an election until autumn 2023 these two vacancies will give two more people a chance to become CC members for the next 18 months by telling us why they would like to contribute to our Community Council.
Simply email, in 50 words or less, why you would like to join our CC team and send your email to either the Chair, Vicki Salvage,(email: v.salvage@btinternet.com) or the Secretary, Stuart Bridges (email: community@stmonans.org.uk). Please send your email to reach us by Sunday 17th April at 6 pm. If more than two people apply to join, there will be a secret ballot held at our next Community Council meeting on Monday 18th of April ~ which is only 5 days away!
