4 | St Monans Heritage Museum Report for 2014 – I ReekieQuote from Visitors’ Book: “Fantastic collection of social history at its best.”
I Reekie said that we began our season as usual over the Easter weekend. The Heritage Museum is open from May to the end of September. We had much the same number of visitors as last year. Income from donations was slightly down. There was a slow start for visitors in May, June and July, however there were more visitors from July to September. The visitors who came were not just local or from the UK, but also from many parts of the world: Europe and further afield. I Reekie went on to give many thanks to the volunteers. He stressed that we are very much obliged to our faithful band of volunteers, and said that the visitors commented that they appreciated the friendly welcome they had received from the volunteers. Final comment: again taken from the Visitors’ Book, “It says much of the people – the way they keep and care for their heritage. You must feel proud.” Questions: The Chairman, and Cllr E Riches asked how they were doing in terms of volunteers. I Reekie replied that there were about 10 regular volunteers, and that they had added 2 new volunteers to our band this year, and hopefully next year will get more. He added that volunteers were a vital part of the successful running of the heritage collection. The Chairman thanked I Reekie and the band of volunteers for keeping the Heritage Collection alive and showing visitors how the village has changed over the years. |
5 | Chairperson’s ReportA Anderson thanked the Community Council Members for all their help and support over the last year, and thanked those who had supported and helped with the Sea Queen and Arts Festivals, the Beautiful St Monans and the Chelsea Flower Show. The Chairman went on to say that the Community Council is still keen to engage with the local Community and said there are a large number of Community groups. He thanked everybody who has been involved. |
6 | Treasurer’s ReportThe Treasurer circulated copies of the Accounts. He reported that the Community Council’s funds are adequate, and said that Statement of Accounts detailed what the money has been spent on. The Accounts for the year were approved.
Proposer: V Bland Seconder: W Buchan A Anderson said that we are heavily funded for the floral display by the Common Good Fund, and that we had to apply for extra funding for this about 2 years ago. The Treasurer said that extra funding would not be needed this year. The Treasurer added that more money was spent on watering of plants this year due to the dry weather. |
